Gulf Rubber Factory is operated by Abu Dhabi Waste Management Centre (Tadweer). This is where old tyres are transformed into products such as safety flooring, engineered products, comfortable horse mats, shooting range tiles, sound isolators etc. The used tyres are collected by Tadweer waste collection contractors and delivered to Gulf Rubber factory in Al Ain. Last year 10,000 tons of used tyres were received at the Gulf Rubber factory. Workers collect the tyres from the yard, prepare them, soon after bring them in for the shredding and purification process. Abdullah Al Kaabi, the Mechanical Project Engineer for Tadweer, and the company exports 40% of the recycled tyres based products from the factory. Gulf Rubber plant is the only integrated project in the United Arab Emirates, and region that recycles tyres to generates rubber compounds, as well as, value added high tensile rubber products.
